I've been wanting to do something with Reverse Fandom prompts for a long while, so I thought it might be fun to do a whole community using them, but I thought the Song Title prompts would add some variety, and making it monthly would give people plenty of time to play around with each set of prompts before a new one comes along.

Hope you'll have fun here, and please let me know of any singers/bands whose song titles you'd like to dip onto, and any TV shows with a good mix of episode titles. I'm very open to suggestions. I want to start with a Song Titles challenge but I haven't decided on whose songs yet... Might go with M*A*S*H for the first Reverse Fandom one because there are so many episodes with great titles.

"Babylon 5" had a lot of rather awesome episode titles. Writers could probably also get quite a bit of mileage out of titles from "The X-Files" (especially since many of those are single words).

Funnily enough, B5 was already on my list - it's one of my all-time favourite shows and I'm currently re-watching it so it's very much on my mind right now.

Excellent idea with the X-Files, that should give everyone something to get their teeth into!

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll look those up online and see if I can find lists of their songs to link to. I haven't heard of any of them, what music genre are they?

Glad you like the comm, it seemed like a fun idea to give writers inspiration. I wanted it to be as relaxed as possible, with no deadlines and no wordcount limits, so everyone can just dip in and out whenever the mood takes them. Combining prompts with other challenges is fine too, as is using different prompts for chapters of the same fic, or using multiple prompts in one fic. Really, around here anything goes!

It's a shame I've never written anything for your comm (but don't worry I'm working on something).
What about a song challenge for David Bowie on day? (See me ending up writing something for the one song that inspired already two pieces I've written and which got mentioned in a long story as well)

You're right, I haven't done David Bowie here - I used his songs over at drabble_zone, which was when I get the idea for creating this community, but that was long enough ago that it would be worth adding him to the list. Don't know when he'll get his chance, but he definitely will. Thanks!

I'm new. I understand what is needed in the challenge line, but what about category? I just want to do it perfectly.

Don't worry if you're unsure, either take your best guess or leave the category field blank. I try to keep things as relaxed as possible here.

Or, if there's a category tag you'd like to have added, then feel free to ask.

There's no category for fanfic because that's mainly what the community is for. If you have any questions at all, I'm around most days and I'll answer as soon as I can.

In the meantime, I hope you'll enjoy yourself here. Just dive in, all challenges remain open at all times, so you can pick and mix if you're so inclined.

A suggestion, just because I happen to be watching it, lately: Time Team episodes. They don't all have proper titles, as such, but a lot of them do. :)
