Never really been a Michael Jackson fan, or a pop music fan for that matter, I'm a country girl, but I might give it a listen. Just have to be in the right kind of mood.

If you have time, you should go through his English songs. The right mix of more pop ballads, some more disco like ones.
He's mostly famous for his ESC song, I've heard it during the final show and then I had to look up his other songs as well.

I like a wide range of different genres so I can't really say I'm a "xy person" or "yx person". For the most time my playlists are a mix of various Metal and Rock bands, with a lot of Pop music (especially Russian pop music) and a good portion of electronic music.

There are still songs of other genres I like, be it from the way it sounds or the lyrics. I'm also fond of a lot of Classical music, especially Piano and Violin.

But as you say: for some genres you need to be in the mood, otherwise they don't appeal to you. That's what I have with languages as well. There are some languages I can only listen to when I'm in the mood for them (like native language) but usually then I don't listen to anything else

I'll have a listen at some point. I like good lyrics and a melody, and songs that tell a story. Got made fun of at school for my musical tastes, but I know what I like and I don't care what anyone else thinks. We should all be able to listen to what makes us happy without getting criticised or laughed at. It would be a sad world if there was only one kind of music everyone had to like =)
