Summary: You ignore them, even as they hurl abuse.
If you weren't such a stoic sort, you might confess yourself surprised at this turn of events. Further, you might have taken the precaution of letting someone, anyone, know that you were coming here, to try to prevent such an occurrence.
But you knew, going in, that you had many enemies. Confiding in the wrong person might well have brought this about all the sooner.
Your captors stand about you, mocking you. Biding their time until they think it's the right moment to take your life.
You ignore them, even as they hurl abuse. Your fears aren't for yourself, though no one cares to stare their own death in the face and wait for it to make its move.
The tragedy is for this land. If you are gone, then who will remain to save it? If you're lost, then all is lost.
Fate was the ship you sailed, but you are no longer its captain. And now you've run aground.
